Printmakers overlap with illustrators somewhat. Both usually work on paper. Whereas illustrators typically work directly on the surface that will be exhibited, printmakers typically work on a different surface, such as a woodcut, which they then ink up and then transfer onto the paper or textile that is the surface that will be exhibited.
