Matthew Zivich

Sculptor who makes meticulous models of buildings. Also paints, winner of the Leonard Bocour Prize for Student Painting. Instructor of fine arts at Saginaw Valley State University. Father of Alivia Zivich.

Matthew helped start the art department at Saginaw Valley, teaching there from 1976 to 2024. Courses he taught included general drawing, paintings and sculpture, and occasionally watercolor and life drawing. As an alum of the University of Michigan, he stayed in touch with other U of M art alumni.

Matthew died on June 14, 2024, according to an e-mail from What Pipeline, a gallery he supported.
