Ellen Kayrod Gallery
4750 Woodward
Detroit MI 48201
Gallery hours are Mondays through Thursdays from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and on Fridays from 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., the earliest gallery hours of any gallery in Detroit. Opening receptions are typically on Fridays from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. The gallery is very close to Detroit Artists Market and the N'Namdi Center for Contemporary Art.
It would be poetic but imprecise to say that the Kayrod is the opposite of the Red Bull House of Art. Part of the Luella Hannan Memorial Foundation (of which Ellen Kayrod was executive director), the Kayrod Gallery exhibits artists 60-years-old and older. But they also have the Inter-Generational Show every so often, in which qualifying artists invite younger artists to exhibit in the gallery.
Upcoming exhibitions
- In Focus, group photography show. Slated to open December 13, with a reception from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., and run to January 31.
