Inner State Gallery

1410 Gratiot
Detroit MI 48207

The 323East gallery in Royal Oak was the precursor of Inner State Gallery. In Detroit, near Eastern Market and the Red Bull House of Art, Inner State Gallery collaborated extensively with galleries in New York, Los Angeles and Mexico, and also exhibited a few prominent local artists and emerging artists. 1xRUN was in the same building and was managed by pretty much the same people as the gallery.

Opening receptions were typically on Fridays from 7:00 to 10:00 p.m. At first, gallery hours were just on Saturdays from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. But at some point in May 2016, gallery hours were expanded to Wednesdays through Fridays from noon to 6:00 p.m., and on Saturdays from 11:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

Upcoming exhibitions

Well, Inner State Gallery closed on December 16, 2017. Moving On was the final exhibit. The 1xRUN business is moving close to the Heidelberg Project, and looks like it will also have a gallery attached, most likely to be named something other than "Inner State." The Gratiot location is now the site of K. Oss Contemporary Art.

I don't know what's going to happen with these exhibits Inner State previously announced:

Maybe they will be rescheduled at the new gallery, maybe they will never happen, I don't know.

On October 15, 2015 the Inner State staff were in New York to present work by Lawrence Atoigue at Joseph Gross Gallery.

Also, Heron Arts in San Francisco hosted Inner State Gallery for a group show titled The Detroiter, with a few dozen artists who have exhibited at Inner State. That opened on July 30, 2016, I don't know when it closed.
