The Museum of Contemporary Art Detroit (MOCAD, or sometimes MOCA Detroit) is in Midtown, just a few blocks away from the Detroit Institute of Arts (DIA). The main building, though smaller than the DIA, is still quite much larger than pretty much any art gallery in Detroit.
In addition to the main building, which is generally subdivided into three to four different exhibition spaces, there is also the Mike Kelley Mobile Homestead parked nearby. If you can't find it, go in the main building and ask for directions.
Current exhibitions
- Girl Raised in Detroit, Sydney G. James. Opened April 15 and slated to run to September 3. There will be a gallery talk with the artist and Juana Williams on May 13 at 1:00 p.m., $10 suggested donation.
Not sure what's up with Gina Osterloh and her gallery talk August 26 at 1:00 p.m.
