Photographers

Anyone who uses a lens to focus light onto a light-recording medium, be it film or sensor, is a pho­tog­ra­pher. And photography is art. But this def­i­ni­tion is overly broad. So, to be con­sidered a pho­tog­ra­pher for the purposes of this website, the artist must produce photos for the purpose of ex­hib­iting them in a phys­i­cal art gallery.

Painters who take photo­graphs for use as ref­er­ence images for paintings, and don't ex­hib­it those ref­er­ence photographs in formal ex­hib­its, don't count as photo­graphers for the pur­poses of this website.
